What is the difference between car detailing and valeting?
Car detailing is a much more involved process compared to car valeting. Valeting services are designed to clean the vehicle, but do not offer any restorative aspects. Car detailing, on the other hand, also includes machine polishing which improves the visual condition of the vehicle. Detailing services also often offer the choice of premium paint protection options such as ceramic coatings and PPF. Do new cars need detailing?

How does paint correction work?
Paint correction works by using controlled abrasion to carefully level the clear coat and remove the damaged layer. This results in a surface which reflects light much more evenly and hence, looks much glossier.
What causes scratches and swirl marks?
Clear coat scratches and swirl marks are typically caused by poor wash technique. This includes things like:
- Automatic and roadside car wash stations – these use abrasive tools which damage the clear coat.
- Using sponges and brushes to wash the car – instead of soft microfibre wash mitts.
- Skipping the pre-wash stage – this dramatically increases the risk of scratching the clear coat during the contact wash.
Professional car detailers use “safe” wash techniques which reduce the risk of scratches and swirl marks.
What is the difference between a single-stage and two-stage paint correction?
Single-stage paint correction is designed to address very light clear coat swirl marks, and enhance gloss. On average, a single-stage paint correction service will remove around 70% of clear coat defects, but this does depend on the make and model of the vehicle. Two-stage paint correction services result in a higher-level of defect removal (upwards of 90% of clear coat defects on average). This is because a heavier cutting stage can be performed first, and then a second refinement stage can be carried out to restore the clarity and gloss levels. We can advise on the best course of action depending on your vehicle’s current condition, and your budget.
